How to Keep Scrub Colors from Fading
Blue Sky scrubs are refreshing, vibrant, and luxurious. They’re available in so many different colors that we make it difficult to choose which one suits you best. And they’re comfortable, unlike other brands that may be scratchy, or ill-fitting. They’re also customizable so that you can get the most out of your scrubs! So the question arises, how do we care for our medical scrubs so that they continue looking as vibrant as they were the first day we wore them? Below are a few tips for helping colors to set it and stay in!
Pre-wash Your Scrubs Upon Purchasing
It’s always best to pre-wash your medical scrubs after you buy them. Add half a cup of white vinegar to help sanitize them, and a little more water so they can move around freely. Pre-washing helps colors to set in and become more vibrant. It’s an excellent place to start!
Use the Hot Iron
Sure, it may seem like an old school practice, but ironing your medical uniform really helps them stay crisp and clean! We understand that you don’t have too much time on your hands- even for laundry- but iron them every now and then, and you won’t regret the end result.
Don’t Overuse Detergent
Make sure you’re using the correct amount of detergent and/or fabric softener. Some softeners actually fade fabrics, and detergents can wear them down quickly. Use the suggested amount of both and you’ll be good to go!
Don’t Wear Scrubs Outside of Work
Wearing your scrubs exclusively at work can help preserve the fabric and color. It’ll cut down on how many times you need to wash them, and prevent extra spills and accidents. Retired scrubs, however, are free game! Those are great for mowing the lawn, weeding the garden, or even bathing the dog!
We hope these tips help your scrubs stay as bright and colorful as you are!
