Keep Fabric from Fading with These Simple Medical Scrubs Tips
When we find a decent pair of medical scrubs, we want to hold onto them for as long as possible because there’s simply no greater luxury than being that comfortable while working. So preventing our scrubs from fading, shrinking, and staining is important! Let’s review a few ways we can prevent all of these occurrences without breaking the bank, or putting in more effort than than we have time for!
Lasting Colors
The first rule of helping colors last in your scrubs is to give them a good prewash after purchasing. Make sure you add extra water to the load to give them plenty of space to move around, and maybe toss in ½ Cup of white vinegar to properly sanitize them before use. The colors will set in vibrantly.
Scrubs True to Their Size
Ironically, the dryer is often the culprit for shrinking our scrubs. If possible, consider line-drying them outside and then tossing them in the dryer for just a few minutes to soften the fabric- but not shrink it!
As Clean as a Whistle
Rule #1: Keep a stain stick in your locker for emergencies. These are available in a variety of brands and are incredibly useful when you’re in a time crunch! Wear your scrubs at work only to prevent accidents from happening at home, and make sure to follow the proper laundering instructions as listed on the tags of your clothing. If you’re worried about using a certain stain remover, perform a spot test in an inconspicuous area!
