Protecting Your Scrub Fabric from Excessive Wear and Tear

Protecting Your Scrub Fabric from Excessive Wear and Tear

It happens to all of us, no matter which brand of scrubs we use; our scrubs wear down, just like our other clothing. They fade over time, their fabrics because stretched and torn; it’s inevitable! But it is preventable! Here are several tips on protecting your scrub fabric from excessive wear and tear!

Don’t Use Fabric Softener

Fabric softener is well known for making our clothes feel super soft. However, it’s also known for causing fabrics to fade. Since the fabrics of our scrubs are already fading as time goes on, why not slow this process down by cutting the usage of fabric softener out of your laundry routine?

Line Dry Your Scrubs

It’s always best to line dry your scrubs, instead of drying them in the dryer. We’ll tell you why, below.

Don’t Use the Dryer

Instead of drying your scrubs in the dryer, hang them on the clothesline, or in the laundry room to dry! The dryer is a huge culprit when it comes to fading, shrinking, and abrasion. So even though it may be a pain to line dry your scrubs, it’s totally worth it in the end!

Pay Attention to Care Labels

The care label on your scrubs can really help you out! There, you’ll find special instructions on caring for your scrubs, like tumble dry on low, or don’t use bleach. It can be really easy to make a mistake if you don’t read the care instructions first!

Use the Hot Iron

Occasionally, use the hot iron on your scrubs! It’s amazing what a good old fashioned ironing can do. It helps keep your scrubs in tip top shape, while making the colors pop and the fabrics feel crisp and professional!
