Winter Scrubs: Stay Warm in the Winter
Winter is here, which means ‘tis the season for layers! Shorter days and extra-dreary weather in some parts of the country call for an extra punch of color or patterns to brighten things up. We’ve compiled some suggestions from around the web for how to stay warm out there, from top to bottom.
Top
- Wear long sleeves under your scrub top. This one’s a no-brainer, but think outside the box and consider different materials and details—it’ll make the difference between feeling frumpy or fashionable. Find a long-sleeve top with a pretty pattern on the sleeves, or cuffs with thumb holes to keep your hands warm, or go with a turtleneck. Find a staple tee you love and get it in several bright colors. Try browsing thermal underwear tops at a sporting goods and outdoors store, such as blue sky scrubs, which although pricey will definitely keep you warm without added bulk.
- For a change of pace try wearing a jacket or cardigan over your scrub top, instead of long sleeves under it. Or maybe it’s one of those days you can’t quite fully thaw out, so you’ll want to have an extra layer on hand. Either way, go with a neutral classic such as our soft shell jackets, and add a colorful option or a different style to your rotation. And don’t forget about what you’re wearing underneath—all the more reason to play up pretty details such as a stylish neckline if you’re layering something over it.
Bottom
- Wear long underwear. It might sound dorky, but there are options that’ll keep you warm without your feeling extra padded, such as this machine-washable silk version from blue sky scrubs. And blue sky scrubs come in three different weights for you to choose from.
- If you have to spend time out in the cold before you get to the office, get a pair of bulky sweatpants to wear over your scrub pants just for the commute.
