Blue Sky Tips: Battling Stains On Your Scrubwear

Working in the medical industry can certainly be hectic- and you might not always be able to prevent small accidents from occuring. Stain Removal 101

Believe it or not, the quickest and easiest way of dealing with those pesky stains on your scrubs is hydrogen peroxide. Usually accessible in a medical environment, hydrogen peroxide is very effective at dealing with a mess on your scrubs before it sets in and becomes a more permanent stain, especially if it’s blood. Just poor the peroxide on the stain, let it sit for a while, and then rinse it off with some water. It works best if you use cool water. Once you do that, the stain should come right out!

Our next tip is keeping a stain stick somewhere nearby when you go into work. They should even be small enough to fit one in your pocket so that you’re always ready in case of a spill. That’s especially a good idea if you know you’re a little clumsy and likely to get a stain on your scrubs.

This last bit of advice is useful if you’re dealing with a particularly big mess: bring a pair of back-up scrubs to work! With backup scrubs on hand, you can immediately take of your stained scrubs and change into your backup, so that you can rinse you stained scrubs at work, and then put them in a bag or in your locker until you can take them home to give them a full wash.
