What to Do When You Stain Your Scrubs
Ah… your first lunch break in who knows how many hours! You sit down and hurriedly begin removing cling wrap from your delicious deli sandwich and- drop! A blob of mustard falls onto your scrub top, dripping down to, yes, your scrub bottoms. It seems as if the day’s outfit has been completely ruined.
Below, we’ll explain a couple of stain removal tips that are great for when you’re on-the-go! So if you’ve stained your scrubs mid-shift and you’re without a spare set, don’t panic! Just keep reading.
Tips for Proper Stain Removal
There are several stain removal sticks available in convenient stores all around us, but some of us just aren’t that prepared! We get it. Instead, keep these two simple ingredients in your locker: white vinegar, and hydrogen peroxide.
Hydrogen peroxide is great for removing blood stains. Most common stains can be treated by mixing ½ tablespoon of white vinegar with ½ cup of warm water. Blot this mixture onto the stain, allow the fabric to dry, and make sure the stain has been removed before washing.
Tips for Proper Laundering
When it’s time to wash your medical scrubs, be sure to combine like colors, and turn each piece inside out to protect the fabric from rubbing or fading. Set the washer to the largest setting in order to give your scrubs enough space, and use cold water- unless otherwise specified. Hot water can deepen stains and damage our scrubs’ fabric.
